Dilbert.com – The Official Dilbert Website with Scott Adams’ color strips, Dilbert animation, mashups and more!

First time ever that I can show Ivette a Dilbert strip that makes her laugh (she’s a Harry Potter fan).

True story: one of my former customers purchased a domain name that ends in “exchange.com”. Even better: it was a Christian-themed website.

“You think it’s cold today? In 1780 it was so cold that the British were able to drag cannons from Manhattan to Staten Island across a frozen NY harbor and deserters walked across the ice from Long Island to Connecticut”

FARK.com: (4983136) You think it’s cold today? In 1780 it was so cold that the British were able to drag cannons from Manhattan to Staten Island across a frozen NY harbor and deserters walked across the ice from Long Island to Connecticut

iSteal: Apple’s iBooks Copies Interface from Third Party – SuperSite Blog

The crying game about the iPad continues. The newest complaint? The iBooks application rips off the Delicious Library. Worse, that Apple has been systematically hiring people off Delicious to work on the iPhone and iPad. Oh, the horrors of a free market!

While it is obvious that Delicious had that kind of interface first, it is nothing more than a virtual version of how most bookstores display new books. THAT idea by itself isn’t new.

And neither is the idea of poaching talent to strengthen your own company. Microsoft did this for years, and all they got was a pro forma slap of the hand.

I bet there is more behind the poaching part of this story. How much you want to bet that Apple has tried to buy Delicious or come up with some kind of licensing agreement?

BBC News – World’s most famous ‘unseen’ diamond

I am usually a live and let live kind of guy, but I personally see it as an obscenity that anyone would pay over $25 million dollars for a polished chunk of compressed carbon. If you haven’t, you should take a look at the few documentaries out there that explain the diamond trade and how the De Beers diamond cartel invented the concept of the “three months of salary” diamond engagement ring as a marketing ploy in the United States and Japan.

Just to put into perspective how stupid this concept is, if I were single and about to engage, and I were to follow the three months of salary rule, I would be spending more money on a ring than what it would cost to walk into a car dealer and buy a fully-loaded car. That also happens to be enough money for a 20% down payment on almost any affordable family home in my area.

Would she rather have a piece of rock on her finger, or a house?

The other reason why I am really annoyed at diamonds is De Beers itself. Diamonds are carbon crystals created under an insane amount of pressure over a really long period of time. There are companies right now growing pure diamonds that meet the scientific definition of a diamond, but De Beers is doing their best to discredit these, even if they are of a higher purity than mined diamonds.

This is a company that keeps diamonds artificially high, profits from human suffering (the certificate of origin process that they enforce is bullshit), discredit a purer product just because a machine made it, and make it literally impossible to resell a diamond at a fair price once it has run through the retail process.

Slashdot Technology Story | Google To End Support For IE6:

Please, if you are still using IE 6, ditch that piece of shit. Just let Windows upgrade you to IE 8 and move on. IE 6 is nothing but a complete and absolute pain in the ass of any and all of us that make a living writing websites and web-based applications.
