‘Save Chuck’ latest in campaigns to rescue favorite shows

‘Save Chuck’ latest in campaigns to rescue favorite shows:

It is a god damn shame that we have so much crap that gets renewed year after year, and so many countless dumbass reality shows that have NO trouble getting greenlit, yet shows like Chuck, Dollhouse and Sarah Connor Chronicles are actually struggling for survival.

Chuck is one hell of a show. It is interesting, it is funny and extremely entertaining. I love this show. To be honest, my only problem with this show is not the show itself, but NBC/Comcast/my local NBC affiliate or whoever the hell is to blame for the horrible quality of my NBC HDTV feed. This is also a problem with Heroes btw, so it really pisses me off to be paying for cable so I can watch NBC in HD (my air reception is horrible) and still having to wait for a torrent or Hulu just so I can watch it without data dropouts.

Slashdot | Konami Cuts and Runs From Iraq War Game

Tuesday, April 28th, 2009

Slashdot | Konami Cuts and Runs From Iraq War Game: I don’t see what the hell is the problem. Little boys have played soldier for thousands of years. My generation played soldier with toy rifles and other assorted toys, plus of course the little plastic Army Men that we set up in very realistic battlefields in our backyards.

This generation is doing the exact same, only with video games. And they get an added benefit: their version is so realistic that it shows them the ugly side of war.

I just finished Call of Duty: World at War and it was as much an anti war statement as was Stanley Kubrick’s Full Metal Jacket. The game introduces each battle with a micro documentary explaining the slaughter up to date, and it shows real film of Japanese executing prisoners of war, the Nazi, etc.

GM to shed 21,000 U.S. factory jobs, Pontiac

Monday, April 27th, 2009

GM to shed 21,000 U.S. factory jobs, Pontiac:

Now we are talking. Not about the firings and killing Pontiac, everyone knew layoffs were coming. What is important is that for the first time it looks like the UAW is finally going to be offered one hell of an incentive to play nice and help GM get out of this mess: $10 billion in stock.

Sure, that stock is worthless unless the company survives, but it gives the UAW real power if they can get their rank and file inline, instead of making them drag their feet while GM is hurting.

UAW agrees to concessions with Chrysler

Monday, April 27th, 2009

UAW agrees to concessions with Chrysler : A “tentative” deal four days before their drop dead date? Who the fuck do they think they are kidding? “Tentative” doesn’t mean shit, for all we know the UAW is sitting tight on a better deal. Or trying to figure out who are they taking down with them when the whole thing comes crashing down.

““There’s a little box on Amazon that reads ‘Tell the publisher I’d like to read this book on Kindle,’ ” she said. “I hope no one tells the publisher.””

Is a Book Still a Book on Kindle? – NYTimes.com

Am I the only one that read that and ran straight for Amazon to click on the damn checkbox?

Watch DOLLHOUSE Week 4/27-5/1

Sunday, April 26th, 2009

Watch DOLLHOUSE Week 4/27-5/1:

FOX basically doomed both Sarah Connor Chronicles and Dollhouse to fail by dumping them on the Friday Night Death Slot. Both shows are very good but ratings are nowhere close to stellar, so they are both in danger. Dollhouse Week is a grassroots effort to get people to watch the show LEGALLY online, over this week. If you like Sci Fi, you have no excuse to at least watch the pilot, which is available for free on Hulu and Fox On Demand. If you want to pay for it, you can get it from iTunes or Amazon.

Don’t even bother with bit torrent, the idea here is to hit legitimate sources that can be tracked, to show Fox if their viewership figures are not representative of the actual interest in the show.
