One more year

Saturday, December 30th, 2006

As most of you are used by now, this is my yearly, half-assed attempt at redesigning the site template, which only proves that after so many years making a living a a web programmer I can still write everything I know about HTML on the back of a book of matches. With a grease pencil. [...]

Updated short story

Friday, December 29th, 2006

I was doing some cleanup on the site and noticed that I had posted a short story without much proof reading. The funny thing is that nobody ever complained about the typos, so I am sure that nobody read it. The cleaned up version of Deterrence keeps its original license and can be downloaded here. [...]

Thursday, December 28th, 2006

Microsoft announced that as of December 22, 2006, the standard warranty coverage for the Xbox 360 is one year. From the actual email: Effective December 22, 2006, the Xbox 360 console warranty has been extended to one year from the date of purchase. The extended warranty applies to new customers and existing Xbox 360 owners. [...]

How to get the Zombie Genocider, and notes on other Dead Rising achievements

Saturday, December 23rd, 2006

There is plenty of good help online for those of you stuck in Dead Rising. The only problem that I am seeing is that not many of these are specific enough or show proof that the writer has actually mastered the game. In many cases I have found full paragraphs lifted from site to site. [...]

Buy an Xbox 360 between 11/15/2006 and 1/15/2007, register it online and get three free Xbox Live Arcade games

Wednesday, December 20th, 2006

If you have bought an Xbox 360 since November 15, and you have not registered it online, use offer codes XBXNG103 or XBXNG110 to get download tokens worth three free XBox Live Arcade games. These games are usually worth about $10 in Microsoft points, so you are looking at at least a $30 freebie. You [...]

Joe Barbera dies at 95

Tuesday, December 19th, 2006

Joe Barbera, half of the Hanna-Barbera production team, has died of natural causes. He was 95. Bill Hanna and Joe Barbera produced some of the funniest animated shows in history, including Tom and Jerry (which eventually won 7 academy awards), The Flintstones and Yogi Bear.

Dead Rising: Level 50

Sunday, December 17th, 2006

Ivette bought me Call of Duty 2 (Alec Esoterica claims this is exactly one year too late), and was alarmed after I finished the first two campaigns in a little over a day. No choice but to play something else and hope I can make the game last. A $40 game that takes 10-12 hours [...]

Time Magazine Names ME as Person of the Year

Sunday, December 17th, 2006

Suck it Trebek. Time Magazine decided to cop out and not give the Person of the Year to Saddam Hussein, Kofi Annan, Osama Bin Laden or Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Instead, they gave it to me basically for geeking it out while keeping it real. Maybe next year they will give it to PSP porn. Or Wii [...]

Dead Rising is more of teh awesome

Friday, December 15th, 2006

I just finished the overtime mode in Dead Rising. What a pain in the ass! Basically at the end of 72-hour mode, Frank and Isabella are stranded at the mall, and Frank is infected. Isabella comes up with a way to slow down the infection, but that gives you 24 hours to get the cure [...]
